Medway Challenge

We will be running again the Medway Challenge on the weekend of August the 2nd and 3rd.This event offers a weekend of sailing, time at the Medway Yacht Club, and an opportunity to see the Historic Chatham Dockyard from the river. Plus, good company.

 
Ok, how does it work? 

 The weekend and race starts about 9:00 am by sailing down to Southend with the falling tide. First take a picture of the TYC start line on the mobile. (You have worked out the start time based on your boat speed.) Write the times down just in case.
At low water Southend you cross from the Thames to the Medway. From there you sail, with the flood, up to Darnet Fort where you take another photo and the race has finished.
Important, drop your sails and motor up to the Medway Yacht Club moorings near Chatham Marina. Call on Channel 37 when close. You will be guided to your mooring. 
From the Moorings there will be a trot boat service to the Medway Yacht Club where you will find a restaurant Bar and changing rooms with showers. In the evening a meal will be available and maybe a quiz? Friends and relatives will be welcome in the evening.
In the morning, motor to Darnet Fort (picture) and the race begins. Time your departure to arrive at the mouth of the Thames at low water around Lunch time. Then up with the flood to arrive back at TYC early evening. Picture of the TYC line and the race ends.
 You can just cruise, but why not enter the race anyway? You might surprise yourself?
 
Tide times are. 

• Saturday L.W.Southend 12.23, 1.6 meters 
• Sunday  L.W. Southend 13.18. 1.8 meters.

There will be a simple menu for Saturday night and a mooring charge of £17.00.  

Deposits will be needed. I know most of you have Day Skipper Theory but those who are unsure, I can help with Navigation. (Simple Buoy Hopping.)
