Call it a coincidence of calendars, an alignment of the planets, or a carefully thought out plan to promote sailing as a major sport in Thurrock, we have a HUGE week of sailing heading towards us in August!

The fun kicks off on the 17th of August with our annual fundraiser for Cancer Research UK, the Kay Lucas Trophy, which we are racing as an open race this year. Departing from normal tradition, we will be racing in the afternoon to make the most of the tide, but also to provide a spectacle for the other big event of the day which is..

..the Thurrock Yacht Club annual open day. We will be opening the doors of TYC and welcoming the general public to come and meet us and see what we get up to behind the flood gates. We have a barbecue and band booked for the evening.

Thursday night is our normal series racing night.

On Saturday the 24th August we have the Armada Challenge - our new flagship event, where we will be joining  with neighbouring clubs to sail the entire length of the Thurrock Coast to commemorate Queen Elizabeth's immortal Armada speech at Tilbury Fort.

The evening of the 24th will see us joined by our friends at Thames Estuary Yacht Club for an RNLI quiz evening.

Finally to round things off, there is the annual pilgrimage to Blyth Sands planned for Sunday the 25th.

There my be further treats in store - please check back as you plan your week. Who knows, this could turn into something special in our calendar!
