Powerboat Level 2 Training
- Powerboat Level 2 Training
- Sat, 22. January 2022
We are looking for expressions of interest for those members who may wish to commit to helping with the dinghy section over the coming years, particularly as safety boat crew.
Please note the following from Barry Milton-White. Some of you may know that Barry is a RYA instructor and teaches some of their courses. He has the opportunity for some discounted rate spaces for TYC members on a course Power Boat Level 2, he is helping teach at another club. We can’t teach these courses at TYC as we are not a recognised sailing training centre. However he has been able to secure a few discounted spots for TYC on the following course. For now spaces are limited however it may be possible to hold additional training over future years.
>From Barry -
Myself and others will be running a PB2 courses on every Saturday in January (15,22,29) at King Georges sailing club, Chingford, Essex. Teaching ratio is 3:1 and for every 2 KGSC members TYC members can have one space. It is a 2 day course.
We were hoping to start this Saturday but due to Christmas it is looking like the first day (8th Jan) will be put back a week. Price of the course will considerably less than the commercial rate.
Please note we cannot guarantee you a place on this course. Costs for the course are yet to be confirmed, but are often advertised elsewhere at between £350 and £250. The costs of this course must borne by the participants at this stage. You must be flexible and able to attend both days as required over the next few weeks/ months. If more people apply than there are spaces for we will hold your names in reserve, and contact you as a priority if we have any further discounted opportunities in the future.
Please also note there is an expectation that those participants taking this offer of a discounted course, will join the TYC dinghy safety boat roster. This will mean a considerable commitment of at least 2 days, at weekends, each month. Priority for spaces will be given to those who are willing to make this demonstrable commitment to be dinghy section safety boat drivers.
Please also feel free to contact Barry on the above email address if you would also like to know more about volunteering with the dinghy section or if you wish to take part as a dinghy sailor at forthcoming TYC club activities.
