This is the secind outing for our "flagship" race. In combination with Erith Yacht Club we celebrate Queen Elizabeth I's stirring “heart and stomach of a King!” speech to rally her troops facing the Spanish Armada in 1588. On the day of the speech she travelled the river from Purfleet to Tilbury and it is this Thurrock riverside journey we recreate.
The Friday evening before we are welcomed ashore (trot boat provided) in Erith for a bar b q then using their start line to begin the race, sail down past Tilbury Fort to the eastern edge of the borough at Mucking Reach (course TBC) to then sail back to our finish line at TYC.
Celebrations continue ashore for both clubs on the Saturday evening. A chance to confirm old friendships and make some new ones.
Tides (Tilbury): HW 0538 - LW 1146 - HW 1743
