This is traditionally the first trophy that we race for each season. It is sailed the nearest Thursday or Saturday to St Georges day. There is normally a separate B class race for boats with higher ratings. The distinctive wooden trophies were donated by Linda Brown
Date: 10th June 2021
A Class: Stoneness, Greenhithe Tug Buoy 5, Black Shelf, White Hart
B Class: St Clements, Greenhithe Tug Buoy 5, Black Shelf, White Hart
Tide: LW 2025
Wind: SW 3
Eight boats set out for our inaugural trophy race of 2021 which was sailed under COVID conditions.
Tide and wind teamed up to make a tough race , particularly up Fiddlers Reach which was a straight beat into the wind with neither tack making more than the other. However the weather was fine and there were fewer shipping movements than normal so it wasn't all bad.
Unfortunately failing light forced two of the B fleet to retire, but the whole A fleet completed the course with Freedom taking line honours.
As the A and B fleets sailed separate courses this race will not be counted as part of the Thursday series.
